This week we are planning and writing evaluations about the work we have done since the first day of class.
First, here are some of the reasons, why i like my blog about the symbolism of a "Rose"
The blog entry i like the most is the one we had to write about the symbolism of a "rose" based on a passage we found in Feber, A Dictionary of symbolism.I enjoyed very much writing this blog because it was very easy to understand and i liked how different poets of literature like Shakespeare defined a rose as woman, because is delicate and virginal and beautiful. I feel proud of this blog because i believe that i really projected the meaning of a "rose" in my own words.
During this first month of class i have learned new things about poetry that i didn't Know before, like the symbolism used by different poets to represent their feelings or actions of our society. Literary quizzes have helped me a lot to understand the different figures of speech like metaphor, simile, personification, it also has helped me to analyze and understand poetry better. The lectures we have had in class, have improved my way of reading, of speaking and writing blogs. Even thought i thought i understand everything about plagiarism, the discussion we had about understanding plagiarism gave me clear examples how to write and site a paper properly. Writing paper one based on a poem was kind of difficult for me because i did not get the main message of the poem very clear, but using the Dictionary of symbolism helped to understand the poem much better.
Working in groups was a nice experience because i got to know new people. My group's name is Faulkner house, the first time we worked together we had to analyze a poem called "I felt a funeral...." by Emily Dickinson, we came up with similar ideas about the poem which helped us to interpretate it easily. I think this activity is very interesting and is very helpful for writing papers because four heads think better than one.
Reading my housemates blogs, has been very instructive because they are deep analyzers, which amazes me; because it helps to learn how to write my blogs better.
